Hip-hop/funk quartet by way of London Left Step Band have recently done an EP entitled 'Rebels of the Frontline' (support the band and buy it here), a crossover of sorts which fuses underground hip-hop with ska elements and some really funky beats. The band consists of a DJ, MC and a drum and bass combination. Lead track 'Leave It' is a spectacle of lay down riffs and catchy lines: 'If something's holding me back/Leave it' complimenting the spacious, irriguous drums, which are for me a personal highlight. 'Swaggering beats meet soulful hooks' is entirely right.
